F.A.Q.

Q: Where is your school located?

A: Originally located at 617 Pleasant Street (hence the name) we later relocated to 37 Main Street to accommodate our growing program.

Q: What ages do you serve?

A:  We currently serve children age two-five but hope to add Toddler services in the near future.

Q: What is your tuition?

A: Tuition at Pleasant Street Preschool is $25.00 per day.  We offer two-day, three-day and five-day programs.

Q: Are you a year-round program or school-year only?

A:  PSP offers a school-year program that runs August-May and a Summer Camp that runs June-July.

Q:  Does PSP offer any special classes?

A:  Why, yes we do! We offer Music, Spanish and Sign Language each week.

Q:  Do the children play outside every day?

A:  Yes! Weather permitting, all students get outside playtime each day. We have a beautiful wooded area behind the school building with a playground and children’s garden. When temperatures are above 95° or below 35°, the children enjoy other gross motor activities and play inside.

Q:  How long is your wait list? What are your wait-list policies?

A:  The length of our wait list varies by the time of year you are wishing to enroll and the classroom availability; ask the director for more details. Our wait-list policy is first-come, first-served.

Q:  Are meals included?

A:  No, we serve two healthy snacks per day, but the children bring their own lunch.

Q:  May I visit my child during the day?

A:  Of course! We always welcome visits from families and encourage your participation in their day whenever possible.

Q:  What is your staff-to-child ratio?

A:  Our ratios always comply with Kentucky State Minimum Standards and are typically lower, but vary by classroom.
Nursery School: 1:6, Preschool: 1:8, Pre-K:1:10, Primary: 1:10.

Q: What is your capacity?

A: PSP is licensed to serve 35 students.  We believe in quality, not quantity – which is why we have some of the smallest class sizes in town!

Q:  How do you select your employees?

A:  A school is only as good as the teachers that work there, so to make sure candidates meet our requirements we assess their teaching philosophy and style, as well as education, training and experience. We also do a pre-employment criminal history check and require them to have CPR, First-Aid, Orientation I & II and fifteen hours of professional development classes each year.

Q: How long have you been in business?

A: PSP opened in August 2008 and has been growing ever since!

Q: Do you ever have Snow Days?

A: Sometimes, but not very often.  If Bourbon County Schools, Paris City Schools and St Mary’s are all closed for extreme winter weather then PSP will be closed as well. We post this closing on our twtiter account, our facebook account and on WLEX18.  We make every attempt to do this as early as possible to avoid any inconvenience.
